A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy was taken into custody Monday following a domestic disturbance reported in Miramar. Miramar Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 11000 block of Southwest 45th Court at approximately 2:05 a.m. after receiving domestic battery reports. Deputy Isaiah Williams had already departed the scene upon police arrival, according to authorities.
After detectives examined the incident, an arrest warrant was issued for Williams on Monday. He subsequently surrendered to police later that day and was transported to the Broward Main Jail, where he remained in custody by evening. The charges against Williams include simple battery, domestic battery by strangulation, robbery by sudden snatching with a firearm, and tampering with or altering evidence.
In response to the arrest, the Broward Sheriff’s Office removed Williams from active duty and placed him on administrative investigative leave without compensation. The agency declined to elaborate on the specific circumstances surrounding the charges filed against the deputy. No further details regarding the incident were made available by law enforcement.
