Wyndham Clark prevailed Sunday at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, posting an even-par 70 to win the BMW Championship by three strokes. The victory marks Clark’s third triumph this year and includes a major championship and a FedEx Cup playoff event, positioning him prominently in player-of-the-year discussions.

Clark’s five-shot lead evaporated quickly as Rory McIlroy charged into contention within the first 11 holes. The decisive moment came at the par-3 16th, where Clark sank a birdie putt from just outside 15 feet—his only birdie of the day—while McIlroy missed his matching attempt. McIlroy subsequently stumbled at the par-5 17th with a bogey, allowing Clark to distance himself with back-to-back birdies for a final score of 17-under 263.

McIlroy finished alone in third place at 69, failing to produce a birdie on the final seven holes. Patrick Cantlay mounted a strong secondary challenge, rallying four times from bogeys with birdies to close with 68 and secure runner-up honors, advancing into the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings for the Tour Championship.

Gary Woodland returned to the Tour Championship for the first time since 2019, three years after undergoing brain surgery. Despite a costly double bogey on the ninth hole, Woodland recovered with nine consecutive pars for a 69 to tie for fourth place.

Clark’s composed finish—despite managing three bogeys and admitting he felt disconnected during stretches—demonstrated his resilience following a similar late-round comeback at the U.S. Open. The victory qualifies him for an automatic spot on the U.S. Presidents Cup team.
