The specific charges were not disclosed at the time of arrest, with a sealed warrant preventing immediate public disclosure of details, according to Brady McCarron, a Marshals Service spokesperson who spoke with The Associated Press.
The brothers, dual U.S. and British citizens, are wanted in the U.K. on rape and human trafficking charges stemming from alleged offenses committed between 2012 and 2015 in an area north of London where they grew up. Their legal representatives have consistently denied these allegations.
Andrew and Tristan Tate built substantial social media followings—particularly among young males—by promoting a lifestyle centered on wealth and explicit misogyny. The former professional kickboxers relocated to Romania in 2016, where they were arrested in 2022 on accusations of participating in schemes to exploit women sexually. Those charges were ultimately dropped due to legal and procedural deficiencies in the Romanian case.
