Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a shooting Thursday evening in Pompano Beach that left one man injured. The incident occurred shortly before 7:45 p.m. at 220 South Dixie Highway, where county regional communications received reports of gunfire.

Emergency personnel located the gunshot victim at the scene and transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment through Pompano Beach Fire Rescue. The extent of his injuries was not immediately disclosed.

Law enforcement officers detained a subject following the incident, according to BSO investigators. The agency’s Crime Scene and Robbery Units are leading the investigation into the shooting, which remains ongoing.
