Columbus High School dominated Southridge in a decisive high school football contest that drew the attention of Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal. The visiting coach observed a display of offensive firepower that put the game out of reach early, with Columbus securing a 45-7 victory.
Five-star recruit A’Mir Sears, a prospect in Cristobal’s recruiting class, sparked the Columbus offense by hauling in a touchdown pass on an early scoring drive that gave the Lions a 7-0 advantage. Quarterback Kai Moore subsequently found Brian Wilson Jr. in the end zone for another score as Columbus built momentum throughout the contest.
In separate Broward County action, Cypress Bay mounted a comeback against South Plantation after trailing 14-7 entering the third quarter. The Cypress Bay offensive line opened gaps for a short rushing touchdown before the team extended its advantage, ultimately winning 28-21 to complete a successful evening for area programs.
