A major fuel leak emerged after an 18-wheeler tanker overturned in Queens, according to state officials. The vehicle discharged roughly 2,000 gallons of fuel across the affected area, creating a significant environmental and public safety concern.
Fuel from the disabled truck spread across the roadway and entered storm drainage systems, eventually reaching a canal connected to additional waterways. Officials worked to contain and manage the spill to limit further environmental damage.
