Willow Nightingale will defend her AEW Women’s World Championship for the first time at All In, the company’s flagship annual event scheduled for August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London. Nightingale captured the title in July at Redemption by defeating Thekla, while her challenger Mercedes Moné earned her opportunity by winning the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.
The champion described the initial shock of winning the belt as something that required time to fully register. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Nightingale explained that the immediate aftermath of her victory involved physical exhaustion and promotional obligations, delaying her emotional realization of the achievement. The moment crystallized for her during the subsequent “Dynamite” broadcast in Detroit, where crowd support made the significance concrete.
Nightingale anticipates a divided crowd at Wembley given Moné’s considerable impact on professional wrestling throughout her career, despite reservations about the challenger’s character. The 32-year-old New York native acknowledged the elite caliber of opponents at the world championship level and emphasized that mental fortitude will prove essential to retaining her title against such formidable competition.
Since joining AEW in 2021, Nightingale climbed from developmental programming to divisional prominence, previously holding the TBS Championship twice. She expressed gratitude for the company’s investment in her career, characterizing her championship position as an honor she cannot take for granted and a responsibility to deliver marquee-level performance.
