“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continued its commanding grip on the North American box office this weekend, collecting an estimated $70 million across U.S. and Canadian theaters to maintain its position atop the charts. The Sony Pictures superhero epic has accumulated $785.8 million domestically through three weeks of release, already ranking as the fourth-highest-grossing domestic release in cinema history.

The film’s global performance proved equally remarkable, crossing the $2 billion worldwide threshold with $118.7 million from international markets. Only eight films have ever achieved this milestone, and “Brand New Day” reached it faster than all but one predecessor—surpassed only by “Avengers: Endgame,” which accomplished the feat in 11 days compared to this film’s 18-day trajectory in 2019.

“The Odyssey,” Christopher Nolan’s epic, held firmly in second place during its fifth weekend with $23.2 million in domestic earnings. The film has now grossed $504.7 million domestically and surpassed $1.2 billion globally, bolstered by $36.6 million from its initial China release among $98 million in international revenue.

Two distinct dinosaur-themed films vied for third position in their debuts. “The End of Oak Street,” a PG-13 action film directed by David Robert Mitchell and starring Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, edged ahead with approximately $21 million from 3,446 domestic locations, supported by $26 million internationally for a $47 million global opening against an $80 million production budget.

Paramount Pictures’ “Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie,” the third theatrical Paw Patrol release since 2021, followed closely with $20.5 million domestically from 3,545 theaters, bringing its global total to $69 million. The animated family film received an A CinemaScore rating, while the live-action “End of Oak Street” earned an 86% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes alongside a less enthusiastic B audience rating.

The summer box office season concluded with robust performance, generating over $4.2 billion in ticket sales—approximately 5.7% above the pre-pandemic summer of 2019. The year-to-date total reached just under $6.9 billion.
