Ceyair Wright, who joined the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent in April after his college career at Nebraska, has departed the team to focus on entertainment opportunities. The Bengals placed Wright on the Exempt/Left Squad list following his decision to leave the organization.
Wright informed the team of his departure and expressed his desire to pursue roles in television and film productions. Head coach Zac Taylor acknowledged the player’s difficult choice, noting that Wright felt equally drawn to both professional football and acting. “Two things he’s really passionate about were colliding and he decided to pursue this opportunity,” Taylor said in a statement.
The 24-year-old defensive back brings existing entertainment credentials to his new path. Wright previously portrayed LeBron James’ son in the 2021 film “Space Jam: A New Legacy” and appeared in the movie “Training Day.” His television credits include roles in the sitcoms “Grown-ish” and “2 Broke Girls.”
Cincinnati addressed the roster change by signing Matthew McDoom as Wright’s replacement on the defensive back depth chart. Taylor expressed support for Wright’s decision while praising his work ethic during his brief time with the team.
