A single-vehicle collision in Miramar sent a 4-month-old infant to the hospital with serious injuries Tuesday afternoon. The crash occurred in the 2300 block of Southwest 173rd Avenue shortly after 12:30 p.m., according to the Miramar Police Department.
The vehicle carried a mother and two children at the time of the incident. The infant sustained severe injuries requiring emergency air transport to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital for treatment. The mother was taken by ambulance to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with minor injuries, while the second child emerged from the crash unharmed.
The Traffic Homicide Investigations Unit of the Miramar Police Department has assumed responsibility for the investigation. Additional details regarding the cause of the collision and the identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed by authorities.
