New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge took another step forward in his recovery Friday by participating in a catch session while rehabbing from a fractured right rib. Manager Aaron Boone indicated the activity represents a measured progression in Judge’s path to returning to game competition, though no specific timeline has been established for his comeback.
Judge has been sidelined since May 31 and received clearance on August 5 to begin light exercise routines. Boone reported that the three-time American League MVP and eight-time All-Star tolerated the throwing session well, though the skipper cautioned the team remains in early stages of baseball-specific drills.
The 32-year-old slugger has stated his intention to play again this season despite the extended absence. Boone declined to commit to a return date, saying the Yankees will monitor Judge’s progression through the current week before introducing additional activities.
Judge entered his injury having batted .248 with 17 home runs and 38 RBIs. His output had declined markedly in the stretch before his injury, producing just one homer across his final 18 games before landing on the injured list.
