Houston Officers Kill Gunman After Random Shooting Spree Wounds Three People

Law enforcement in Houston responded to a chaotic scene around 11 a.m. when reports came in of an armed individual shooting indiscriminately at motorists along Wayside Drive. Three officers from the Houston Police Department and a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety arrived at the location and discovered a man brandishing a firearm in the roadway’s median.

After ordering the suspect to relinquish his weapon, the responding officers and trooper opened fire on the gunman, who was struck multiple times and subsequently transported to a medical facility. No law enforcement personnel sustained injuries during the confrontation, according to the Houston Police Department.

The shooting had wounded three civilians before police intervention. A vehicle carrying a mother and her daughter came under fire, with both passengers struck by gunfire. A separate vehicle’s occupant was also shot, while a third motorist managed to evade injury and escape the scene.

A witness present at the scene described the gunman’s indiscriminate targeting of passing vehicles without regard to occupants or circumstances. That witness, identified only as David, said he and nearby coworkers attempted to warn approaching drivers of the danger. The suspect’s identity and motive remain undisclosed, with the Houston Police Department and Texas Rangers continuing their investigation.
