MLB Selects San Francisco to Host 2028 All-Star Game at Oracle Park

San Francisco will welcome Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game in 2028, Commissioner Rob Manfred announced Friday. The matchup will take place at Oracle Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, continuing the ballpark’s storied tradition of hosting baseball’s premier mid-summer event.

The Bay Area city previously hosted the All-Star Game in 2007 at the same waterfront venue, an occasion memorable for Hall of Famer Ichiro Suzuki’s inside-the-park home run off the right-center field wall. San Francisco will become the fourth location to hold the All-Star Game when counting its two previous hosts, Candlestick Park, which held the event in 1961 and 1984.

Manfred praised the region’s appeal as a host, citing the Giants’ passionate supporters, the quality of Oracle Park, and the city’s deep baseball heritage. He noted the All-Star Week festivities would bring significant celebration to the Bay Area, building on momentum from other recent major sporting events hosted in the region.

Giants President and CEO Larry Baer expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing it as a chance to showcase the organization and community on baseball’s grandest summer stage. With the 2028 selection, Oracle Park will join an exclusive group of eight active major league stadiums that have hosted the All-Star Game multiple times.
