Reality TV Star McBee Defends WNBA Guard Cunningham in Transgender Sports Debate

The question of transgender participation in women’s sports has become a contentious flashpoint, with the WNBA emerging as a focal point for the ongoing national debate. Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham has found herself at the center of the controversy after declaring last month that excluding biological men from women’s sports is “common sense.” The statement prompted significant backlash from critics, including podcast co-host and Bravo personality West Wilson.

Steven McBee Jr., host of the Bravo reality series “McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys,” recently came to Cunningham’s defense during an appearance on Tomi Lahren’s OutKick program. McBee argued that men should largely refrain from weighing in on the issue, suggesting that those directly affected by policy decisions should lead the conversation instead. He praised Cunningham for expressing her viewpoint and standing firm in her beliefs despite the pushback.

McBee took aim at Wilson’s criticism, suggesting that the fellow Bravo talent’s progressive political leanings informed his response to Cunningham’s remarks. However, McBee contended that the transgender sports debate should transcend partisan divisions and remain focused on the perspectives of female athletes. “It shouldn’t be right-wing and damn sure shouldn’t be men commenting on who and what should be allowed in women’s sports,” McBee stated, emphasizing that women themselves must ultimately decide the matter.
