A Boston-based hedge fund affiliate has acquired Spirit Airlines’ headquarters campus in Dania Beach for $93.25 million following a bankruptcy court auction. Officials confirmed the transaction Friday morning, with Hill City Capital’s affiliate emerging as the winning bidder in the proceedings held through U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York.
The sale marks a significant asset liquidation for the financially troubled carrier, which ceased all flight operations on May 2 during its second bankruptcy filing. The auction process represented the company’s effort to convert real estate holdings into cash amid its insolvency proceedings.
