A Pembroke Park tax office was targeted in two separate break-ins last month, prompting an investigation that led to an arrest this week. Juded Telfort, owner of Jude & Jude tax office at the Hollywood Shopping Plaza located at 520 Hallandale Beach Boulevard, released surveillance footage documenting the incidents that occurred on July 14 and July 28. According to Telfort, the intruder was notably thin and gained entry by crawling through an opening, triggering the building’s motion detection system in the process.
Investigators discovered a black knife and collected a blood sample during their probe into the crimes. Telfort expressed frustration over the repeated violations, questioning the burglar’s motive given the absence of cash on the premises. Lawrence Ganswith was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale on charges related to the burglaries.
Ganswith faces two counts of burglary of a dwelling with structural damage exceeding $1,000 and one count of criminal mischief over $1,000. While in custody, Ganswith admitted to entering the building but denied responsibility for the crimes, according to detectives’ reports. Court records indicate Ganswith was previously arrested in West Park last year on loitering and prowling charges.
