A star-studded lineup of Latin music performers will take the stage at Miami’s Kaseya Center on August 16 for “Unidos por Los Nuestros,” a benefit concert designed to raise funds for earthquake survivors across Venezuela and Colombia. The event, which will be broadcast live on Univision, ViX, WAPA and other networks, features Marc Anthony, Luis Fonsi, Chayanne, Feid, Jay Wheeler, Piso 21, Gente de Zona, Elena Rose and numerous other artists representing genres from salsa and reggaeton to pop.
Venezuela experienced two catastrophic earthquakes on June 24, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 striking northern regions just 39 seconds apart and killing at least 6,300 people. The concert’s scope expanded following Monday’s 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia’s western areas, which claimed at least 181 lives and injured more than 2,500, making it the nation’s worst quake this century according to researchers.
Funds collected through ticket sales and online donations will support immediate and long-term recovery needs including home reconstruction, school repairs, community rebuilding and mental health services. Marc Anthony’s Maestro Cares Foundation and the Univision Foundation will oversee distribution of proceeds to nonprofit organizations including All Hands and Hearts, CARE, Global Empowerment Mission, Techo and World Central Kitchen.
Viewers can contribute by scanning QR codes displayed during the broadcast, texting UNIDOS to 707070, or visiting univision.org. The concert begins at 6 p.m. ET and will be available across Univision radio stations, iHeartLatino and Venevision Play in Venezuela, with hosts including Don Francisco and former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres.
Beyond the August 16 concert, additional relief efforts are underway across the Latin music community. Conductor Gustavo Dudamel will host a separate benefit concert on August 23 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, featuring Beck, Natalia Lafourcade and Carlos Vives, with proceeds supporting United Nations Development Programme and CAF Development Bank recovery funds.
Venezuelan band Rawayana established Fundación El After immediately following the disasters to assist affected youth, while Colombian artists Shakira, Karol G, Ryan Castro and J. Balvin mobilized support through social media. Metallica’s foundation contributed $100,000 directly to Direct Relief for Venezuelan humanitarian aid.
