A confrontation between two alleged robbers and a food delivery driver turned deadly Thursday afternoon in Miami Gardens when gunfire erupted near Northwest 35th Avenue and Northwest 203rd Street around 2 p.m. One suspect was fatally shot, while law enforcement officials continue searching for a second assailant who fled the scene.
Doorbell camera footage and cellphone video captured the violent encounter in vivid detail. Witnesses reported hearing a rapid succession of gunshots, with one bystander describing the sound as a barrage of bullets fired in quick succession. Aerial footage from the scene showed cash, sandals, and a handgun scattered near a parked Toyota.
According to police sources, the delivery driver discharged his weapon in self-defense after the two men attempted to rob him. The suspect who was struck was found wearing a black ski mask and was initially transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released to the public.
Authorities detained the delivery driver at the scene for questioning. The second suspect remains outstanding, and Miami Gardens police have not yet announced an arrest. Residents expressed shock at the incident, with some supporting the driver’s right to self-defense while others expressed concern about the violence in their neighborhood.
