Responders located an 8-foot Burmese python in a New Jersey backyard after receiving reports of the reptile. The snake had consumed an opossum and was found beneath a residential shed on the property.
A local contractor was enlisted to assist with the removal operation, dismantling portions of the shed’s flooring to provide emergency personnel safe access to the animal. The collaborative effort allowed responders to extract the python without endangering themselves or the surrounding community.
The discovery highlights ongoing concerns about invasive Burmese pythons appearing in unexpected locations outside their native habitat. Officials have not disclosed the ultimate disposition of the reptile or whether an investigation into its origins was launched.
