Body of Woman Convicted in 2014 Mother’s Murder Discovered Off Boca Raton Coast

Authorities in Boca Raton identified the remains of a 63-year-old woman pulled from the Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday as Patricia Brennan, who had previously served prison time for killing her mother. The body was discovered approximately two miles off the South Florida coastline by a passing boater, according to the Boca Raton Police Department announcement made Thursday.

Brennan was convicted in connection with the 2014 death of her 76-year-old mother, Regina Suknaic, at a residence located in the 1900 block of North 38th Avenue in Hollywood. The attack occurred on May 17, 2014, when Brennan, then 51, subjected her mother to a sustained assault involving both beatings and stab wounds before confining her inside the home.

Following the violent attack, Suknaic remained imprisoned in the residence until morning, when Brennan fell asleep and her mother was able to flee. Suknaic subsequently died from injuries sustained during the incident. Brennan was convicted of second-degree murder and completed more than six years in Florida state prison before her release.

The Boca Raton Police Department has not publicly indicated whether investigators suspect criminal involvement in Brennan’s death. Authorities are seeking information from the public and have requested anyone with relevant details contact the department at 561-620-6246.
