Outreach founder Clay Travis announced Monday that he is raising his standing offer to $10 million for a head-to-head basketball competition between the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces and a boys high school state title team of his selection. Should the Aces defeat the high school squad, Travis stated he would award them the full $10 million prize.
The offer emerges amid ongoing debate within professional women’s basketball following Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s public statement that women’s sports should remain exclusive to women. Her remarks sparked significant backlash from numerous league coaches and players, who wore shirts featuring critiques of her position during games.
The $10 million prize represents approximately one-third of the Las Vegas Aces’ estimated annual revenue of $33 million. Travis framed the challenge as a test of the league’s stated commitment to inclusivity and biology-based sport categorization.
Fever head coach Stephanie White previously stated she felt unprepared to comment on the scientific aspects of gender in sports, adding that she played alongside boys during her youth. Travis highlighted this position in his challenge, suggesting it should translate into comfort with the proposed exhibition game.
