Liv Morgan and Iyo Sky delivered a standout opening match at SummerSlam, held at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, setting an aggressive tone for the remainder of the premium live event. The clash between the Women’s World Champion and her challenger immediately captured the crowd’s attention with fast-paced exchanges and high-impact maneuvers.

Morgan came into the match having faced Sky recently in the Queen of the Ring finals, where she suffered a defeat. Despite the gap in title defenses, Morgan controlled the early portion of the bout, driving Sky into the barricade and executing the Three Amigos before her opponent could establish momentum.

Sky mounted a comeback through a series of devastating moves, including a missile dropkick and Bullet Train Attack that left Morgan vulnerable on the middle rope. A sunset-flip powerbomb sent the champion crashing to the floor, but Sky’s attempt at a moonsault was disrupted when Judgment Day members Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez created a distraction at ringside.

Sky responded by eliminating both Judgment Day competitors with a moonsault before turning her attention back to Morgan. The challenger hit a Spanish Fly from the top rope and executed multiple high-impact offensives, even connecting with Morgan’s own Oblivion finisher, yet the champion refused to stay down.

Morgan seized control in the match’s final sequence, unleashing a codebreaker sandwiched between two consecutive Oblivion finishers to secure the pinfall victory. The triumph solidified Morgan’s standing among WWE’s elite female competitors and proved her ability to overcome formidable Raw roster challengers.
