Authorities in Idaho responded Saturday afternoon to a mass shooting at an In-N-Out Burger location in Twin Falls that resulted in multiple deaths, including that of the suspected gunman. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks characterized the scene as “very chaotic” and confirmed officers arrived around 2:30 p.m. to an active shooter incident that drew resources from multiple law enforcement agencies.
While Hicks confirmed fatalities had occurred, he declined to provide a specific death toll, citing the need to notify next of kin before releasing final numbers. He stated that the suspected shooter was found dead at or near the scene and that several additional victims were receiving treatment for injuries at a nearby hospital.
Law enforcement officials have not yet identified the suspected gunman or established a motive for the attack. Police stressed that the immediate threat to the community had been neutralized with the shooter’s death and urged residents and visitors to avoid the area as first responders continued securing the location.
Idaho Gov. Brad Little and Attorney General Raúl Labrador both issued statements urging the Twin Falls community to seek support while law enforcement worked the scene. Little called for prayers for the affected community, while Labrador praised the coordinated response from Twin Falls Police, Idaho State Police, and fire and paramedic crews working to secure the area.
