Vincent Pastore, ‘Sopranos’ Actor Who Played Big Pussy, Dies at 80

Vincent Pastore, the character actor best known for his portrayal of Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s acclaimed crime series “The Sopranos,” died at 80. His manager, Robert Attermann, confirmed the death to Fox News Digital, stating that Pastore passed away at his home in The Bronx either yesterday or today.

Attermann, who represented Pastore for more than 30 years, praised the late actor’s dedication to his craft and his generosity toward younger performers. “He was passionate about his work and consistently offered encouragement, respect, and mentorship to those entering the industry,” Attermann said. The manager characterized Pastore as “one of the kindest, most generous people” he had ever known, noting his warmth and willingness to engage with fans.

Beyond his signature role on “The Sopranos,” Pastore built a substantial film career spanning decades. His filmography included appearances in “Goodfellas,” “A Bronx Tale,” “Carlito’s Way,” “Gotti,” “Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn,” and “Mickey Blue Eyes,” among numerous other productions.

Pastore’s television work extended across multiple genres and networks. He appeared on “Blue Bloods,” “Law & Order,” “General Hospital,” “Bull,” “Pair of Kings,” and “Hawaii Five-0,” and recently provided voice work for an episode of “Yellowjackets.” He also competed on reality television programs including “Dancing with the Stars,” “Celebrity Fit Club,” and “Celebrity Apprentice.”

Former castmates from “The Sopranos” shared tributes on social media following the announcement. Lorraine Bracco posted a photograph of Pastore on Instagram, describing him as “such a funny & charming man” and “a beautiful soul.” Kathrine Narducci shared an image of the two together, writing that 35 years of friendship had ended with “a tremendous loss.”

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee.
