The Indiana Fever extended their winning streak to five consecutive games Tuesday with a 101-95 victory over the Toronto Tempo, powered by outstanding offensive production from their star backcourt. Kelsey Mitchell led the charge with 29 points, including an explosive 16-point opening quarter, while Caitlin Clark contributed 24 points to secure the win. The Fever controlled the game from start to finish and never surrendered the lead.
Clark and Mitchell’s combined performance etched their names into WNBA history for the 16th time this season, each scoring at least 20 points in the same contest. The pair surpassed the previous record of 15 such games, held by Diana Taurasi and Cappie Pondexter of the Phoenix Mercury, which stood since 2008. The milestone underscores the offensive firepower these two players bring to Indiana’s lineup.
Mitchell’s dominant night also marked her 20th consecutive game with 20 or more points, matching the longest such streak in WNBA history set by four-time MVP A’ja Wilson. However, Mitchell departed early in the fourth quarter after scoring eight points in less than a minute during the third period, with head coach Stephanie White attributing her exit to being “overheated.” Despite her absence, the Fever maintained their lead and closed out the game decisively.
Aliyah Boston contributed 16 points for Indiana, while Sophie Cunningham added 13 points on a perfect 3-for-3 shooting night from distance. The Fever have now won 10 of their last 12 games, while Toronto has lost 11 consecutive contests. Marina Mabrey’s late 3-pointers briefly cut Toronto’s deficit to 97-93, but the Tempo could not complete the comeback.
Indiana travels to Dallas to face the Wings on Thursday, while Toronto returns to action Wednesday against the Washington Mystics.
