The Indiana Fever defeated the New York Liberty 108-88 on Saturday to seize first place in the Eastern Conference, though the victory was marked by contentious officiating and a hard foul that went uncalled. Just 90 seconds into the first quarter, Clark was assessed a technical foul after running into a screen set by Jonquel Jones, a play officials did not flag as illegal despite Clark’s visible impact with the floor. The technical marked Clark’s sixth of the 2026 season and carries a $1,000 fine, placing her two infractions away from an automatic one-game suspension under league rules.
Head coach Stephanie White declined to seek clarification from referees about either the technical or the no-call on Jones’s screen. “There have to be conversations… making sure that we’re strategic in using our technical fouls,” White said. Later in the game, New York’s Breanna Stewart extended her arm while defending near the basket and made clear contact with the side of Clark’s face, according to replay footage, yet no foul was assessed and the play was not reviewed for a potential flagrant violation.
Despite the early adversity, Clark and Indiana mounted a dominant second-half comeback from a 13-point first-half deficit. Guard Kelsey Mitchell led the effort with 33 points, while Clark contributed 17 points and seven assists in the convincing 20-point victory. The Fever improved to 16-10 and will face the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday.
