Reid Hoffman, who co-founded LinkedIn, has secured substantial funding for a newly launched artificial intelligence company focused on cancer treatment research. The startup, called Manas AI, has attracted $24.6 million in its initial capital round.
Hoffman is partnering with Siddhartha Mukherjee, the acclaimed author of “The Emperor of All Maladies,” to lead the venture. Mukherjee’s bestselling book examining the history and science of cancer provides a foundation for the company’s mission.
The funding demonstrates growing investor confidence in applying machine learning technologies to oncology research and drug development. Manas AI aims to leverage artificial intelligence to accelerate discoveries in cancer treatment and understanding.
The venture represents Hoffman’s latest move into healthcare innovation through technology, expanding his investment portfolio beyond social networking into biotechnology and medical applications.
