Waltz and Tebow Announce Global Initiative to Fight Online Child Exploitation

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz and former professional football player Tim Tebow revealed a coordinated international campaign Thursday aimed at addressing the growing threat of online child exploitation. The initiative brings together diplomatic officials, law enforcement personnel, and organizations dedicated to fighting human trafficking to enhance worldwide cooperation against criminals who operate internationally.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital following the announcement, Tebow emphasized that the danger to children exists much closer to home than many American parents realize. “It’s happening in their backyard,” he stated when discussing the prevalence of online child exploitation within the United States.

Waltz highlighted the necessity of global partnership in addressing the crisis. “The United States is leading the charge to combat child exploitation in partnership with civil society groups like the Tim Tebow Foundation,” he said at the event. “Child exploitation criminals operate across borders, so a global response is critical.”

Tebow drew a stark comparison to illustrate the risks facing children online. He told Fox News Digital that leaving children unprotected on the internet is equivalent to allowing them unsupervised access to spaces where predators congregate. He stressed the importance of parental vigilance and use of available safety technologies.

According to Tebow, perpetrators actively hunt for vulnerable targets online through various means. “There are so many predators online that are looking for a vulnerability and an access to a boy or girl so that they can exploit, so that they can lure, so that they can groom, so that they can sextort,” he explained, calling such criminal activity “one of the worst evils in the world.”

When asked whether certain nations refuse to collaborate with American investigations, Waltz identified a different obstacle. Many countries lack the necessary legal frameworks, extradition agreements, and trained personnel to effectively investigate and prosecute these cases, he noted. U.S. agencies and United Nations partners are working to address these gaps through capacity-building and shared expertise.

Waltz further connected human trafficking to migration patterns, noting that vulnerable individuals are frequently targeted by criminal networks along migration routes. Tebow underscored the difficulties investigators face in identifying victims, as offenders deliberately employ tactics to evade detection.

The collaborative effort between the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, the Tim Tebow Foundation, and international law enforcement agencies aims to expand cross-border coordination, improve investigative capabilities, and leverage technology to protect children globally.
