The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks suffered a significant setback Friday when wide receiver Jake Bobo sustained what head coach Mike Macdonald described as a “serious” knee injury during a joint practice session against the Tennessee Titans. Bobo required assistance being transported off the field on a cart, with his right leg extended as he departed. Both teams paused to take a knee in support of the injured player.
Macdonald addressed reporters following the incident, indicating early assessments suggested a long-term injury requiring imaging to determine the full extent of the damage. “Our heart goes out to Jake Bobo,” the coach stated, adding that the team gathered to pray for the 28-year-old receiver’s recovery. Medical staff will conduct further evaluation to confirm the severity of the knee injury.
Bobo, now in his fourth season with Seattle after joining as an undrafted free agent in 2023, has appeared in 45 career games and recorded 34 receptions for 323 yards and three touchdowns. Beyond his receiving role, he functions as a crucial contributor on special teams for the franchise.
Quarterback Sam Darnold expressed frustration over losing Bobo, praising the receiver’s work ethic and intensity on the field. Macdonald similarly lauded Bobo as “a great football player, a great Seahawk,” emphasizing the team’s commitment to supporting him throughout his rehabilitation.
The Seahawks retained Bobo this offseason as a restricted free agent by matching a two-year, $5.5 million offer sheet from the Jacksonville Jaguars, demonstrating the organization’s investment in the veteran receiver.
