IndyCar driver Sting Ray Robb will compete among approximately 24 drivers this Sunday in the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, a racing spectacle that will unfold across a 1.7-mile circuit winding through the nation’s capital. The course will navigate competitors near the U.S. Capitol and along the National Mall during 147 laps, creating what organizers anticipate will be one of racing’s most memorable events.
Robb discussed his participation during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” expressing enthusiasm about the opportunity to race in an event timed with America’s 250th birthday celebration. He described the race as transcending typical motorsports competition, emphasizing its patriotic significance and the unique chance to compete on Washington’s iconic streets.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. I don’t think we’ll have another chance like this to race around the streets of Washington, D.C., celebrating America in this way,” Robb stated. As one of eight American drivers competing in the IndyCar series, he said the podium finish would represent an opportunity to honor his country’s freedoms and achievements.
The racing weekend begins Saturday with the first practice session commencing at 9 a.m. ET, followed by a second session at 1 p.m. ET and qualifying rounds at 5 p.m. ET. FS1 will broadcast the opening practice, while FS2 carries subsequent sessions.
Sunday’s action starts with warm-up laps at 9 a.m. ET before the green flag waves at 1 p.m. ET. FS1 will air the warm-up period, with FOX broadcasting the race itself.
