Hayden Panettiere, the acclaimed actress best known for her role in the television drama “Nashville,” has passed away at 36, according to confirmation from her representative to Fox News Digital. The specific circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been released to the public.

A statement issued on behalf of the New York-born performer expressed deep grief over her loss. “It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her – and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” the representative said.

Panettiere’s career in entertainment began in early childhood, landing a role on the soap opera “One Life to Live” at just 4 years old. She achieved major prominence following her 2000 starring appearance opposite Denzel Washington in the film “Remember the Titans.”

In recent years, the actress had publicly discussed her longtime struggles with substance abuse. At age 15, she began taking prescription medications offered to her during her early career, an experience she described to People magazine in 2022 as the gateway to her addiction to opioids and alcohol.

“They were to make me peppy during interviews,” she explained at the time. “I had no idea that this was not an appropriate thing, or what door that would open for me when it came to my addiction.”

As her professional success grew, Panettiere acknowledged that her dependency on drugs and alcohol intensified significantly. “As I got older, the drugs and alcohol became something I almost couldn’t live without,” she stated in her memoir “This Is Me: A Reckoning.”

In that same book and in a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Panettiere addressed her decision to grant full custody of her 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, to her ex-fiancé, boxer Wladimir Klitschko. The child has resided in Europe with her father since 2018.

Panettiere explained that she made the arrangement out of concern for her daughter’s wellbeing during her darkest period. “I just knew that if I wanted to… I knew how bad a place I was in,” she told the outlet last month, noting that she worked to shield her daughter from the extent of her struggles.

She emphasized that observing her daughter’s quality of life and support system abroad convinced her that custody with Klitschko served her child’s best interests. “I said, ‘You know what? Let her grow up here,'” Panettiere reflected, adding that she maintained hope for future reconciliation with her daughter.
