Over two months have passed since Brooke Hanlon, 35, a New Jersey mother and psychotherapist, was discovered dead inside her Chester home on June 6, yet the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has disclosed virtually no details about the ongoing investigation. Hanlon died from multiple stab wounds sustained at her residence on Pottersville Road. The case has drawn the attention of private investigators and true crime observers who note the unusual secrecy surrounding the homicide.

Private investigator Carl DeFazio, a former U.S. Marine and retired New York Police Department officer, described the case’s closed-door nature as extraordinary. Conor Hanlon, Brooke’s husband, called 911 to report his wife unresponsive and unable to breathe, according to case records. Officers arrived at the scene and pronounced her dead within minutes, initially classifying the death as suspicious. A 12-month-old child was present in the home at the time but remained unharmed.
